What Kind of Hosting Account is Most Suitable For You?

Thursday, March 18, 2010 posted by admin 12:54 am
The internet has become, by far, the most efficient and cost effective way to literally reach millions of potential customers from all over the world. In order to have your own website to advertise your business you will need what is called a hosting company. There are 2 basic types of hosting companies, free hosts and paid hosts. But which type is most suitable for you?

Free hosting companies are a great option for every new webmaster. Personally I started with a paid host, then quit because I didn’t understand what to do. Then I went to a free host and was able to take my time and learn at my own pace without the frustration of having to pay for something I didn’t understand. Most free hosting companies will automatically put advertising on your website, but if you look hard enough, you can find those that do not. Also, there is no guarantee of 100% up time. From experience I can say that I had nearly as much down time with my paid hosting account as I did with my free account. Support services on free hosting accounts do exist, but are limited and not available 24/7.

Paid hosting companies are good for webmasters of all levels of experience. Here too you will find different types of services; shared hosting and dedicated hosting. Dedicated hosting is more for big businesses with a huge customer base and a larger expense fund. While shared hosting is more suitable for individuals and smaller companies. Shared hosting is also much less expensive and can be found as low as $1 per month in some cases. With either dedicated or shared hosting you will have much more control over your website. Site support is generally available 24/7 via live chat, support tickets, email, and even telephone in many cases.

Low cost, shared hosting is the best choice for most people. But do not be afraid to try a free hosting company or two first just to get a handle on how things look and work on the other side. I suggest getting set up on a free hosting account until you are comfortable and confident enough to put your money where your mouth is.

Web Host Comparison – What to Consider

Tuesday, December 18, 2007 posted by admin 4:58 am

When it comes to a web host comparison there is a lot that you need to know. If you do not take this process seriously, you may end up with a web host that does not suit your site. And if this happens, you will be doomed from day one. Although newbies to the internet world will get the most out of a web host comparison, many experienced webmasters should consider this as well. When you compare the different available web hosts you will be giving yourself the best chance to make the best decision. But unfortunately, even then you can end up making some mistakes if you are not extremely cautious about what you are doing.

So what does a web host comparison entail? In other words, what should you be looking at? This is not the same for everybody, so you will want to make sure that you take the time to consider every last detail that is important to you. Remember, your web host does not have to suit the needs of every other buyer; just you. For this reason, your web host comparison should be unique to your wants and needs. This is the only way to ensure that you get the most out of your purchase.

With all of that in mind, there are some basics that everybody should consider when it comes to a good web host comparison. First off, who isn’t interested in price? When it comes to hosting, you will want to get the best possible deal on the cost. You will find out soon enough that there are quite a few companies that tout themselves as budget providers. And while there is nothing wrong with working with these companies, you need to make sure that they are going to give you much more than a low price. After all, price is important, but it is not the end all.

After considering price, if this is important to you, take a closer look at the space and bandwidth that you are being offered. Only you will know how much of each you need. If you have no idea how much space and bandwidth your site will use, ask the different web hosting companies for their opinion. Tell them what you plan to do as well as how much traffic you intend to draw early on. From there, they should be able to give you a very good idea as to what you need in these areas. This is much better than hoping that you guessed right, just to find out that you didn’t in the end.

Also, a good web host comparison process never goes without looking at the technical support team of each company. You need to make sure that help is available if you need it. Most companies know how important this is to buyers, and for this reason they have decided to offer technical support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As you can imagine, this is something that you definitely want. Remember, you never know when you are going to have a question that requires immediate attention.

Comparing web hosts is not always easy to do. You should make sure that taking your time and properly researching each company is at the top of your to do list.
